Sixteen brave attendees signed up to our pilot 10 week Wellness Camp, hoping to naturally improve their health, fitness and overall well-being without a fad diet, magic pill or slimming shake in sight. Our goal was to build awareness of the causes and problems linked to ill health and weight gain, then provide solutions as well as a community support system to keep each other motivated throughout the course – because there’s no point knowing the information and not doing anything with it!
Nature is essential for individual well-being and because the Kent Wildlife Trust has supported our mission from DayOne (excuse the plug) we couldn’t be happier to return the favour by donating 70% of our profits from this pilot camp back into the Trust, which worked out to be £1400!
Currently we are 8 weeks into the camp and already some impressive progress has been made. One camper has lost over a stone and others have reported higher energy levels than their teenage children!
So far the group have learnt about: nutrition upgrades, moving for energy, optimizing sleep, balancing blood sugar levels, balancing stress, exercising for specific goals, developing a growth mindset and eating for individual metabolic type. They’ve completed a variety of exercises, challenged themselves with weekly goals and learnt new relaxation methods to try at home. These are just some of their comments so far.
Wendy said; “I was nervous to join the course at first because I’ve never done anything like this before. My biggest worry was that I wouldn’t be able to keep up, but after the first week I couldn’t wait to go back and find out more.”
Chris said; “It’s a great investment of your time if you want to look after your body and mind. I know it will benefit for years to come. Thank you Pip”
Laura said: “Learning and exercise mash up! Have really learnt lots of small changes to making me a better me!”
