I wish I did it 10 years ago!
Margaret came to DayOne Wellness as a last resort. She knew she had to make some changes to her life and lifestyle and realised this was an impossible task on her own. Right from the first week of the Recalibrate Wellbeing programme I could see Margaret’s determination to succeed and succeed she did!
I felt depressed, following a recent diagnosis of arthritis in my foot I was hardly able to walk, stairs were a nightmare and I was avoiding any form of physical exertion, drinking far too much and eating ready meals, very overweight; I was feeling old before my time. I spied a flyer for DayOne Wellness at Southcote Chiropractor’s reception, went online and decided I needed to take control. I liked the idea of a personal trainer, a whole lifestyle change and not having to attend a class and wait around for others (I have previously done various classes only to revert when I finished).
My main goal has been to be fitter, healthier and to increase my mobility. With Penny’s help and guidance, I have achieved that
but I know I still have a long way to go. There have been many highlights along the way; the first time I got into my jeans (now too big) and walked to town, climbing up the 37 ramps of the Giralda clock tower in Seville, feeling confident enough in my mobility to arrange to take my Guides to camp in the summer to name just a few.
I am now far better organised, plan my meals a week in advance and shop to the list. There is less food waste and I am eating so much spinach and eggs that I am sure I will turn into a green hen. Exercise, which was a very taboo subject is now part of my daily routine; Penny’s suggested exercises as soon as I get up (around 5am) now followed by a brisk 12 minute walk, lovely now the
mornings are lighter and the birds are singing.
DayOne Wellness has worked well for me, I think I am embedding my new habits and am no longer tempted by a glass of wine or biscuit. I wish I had done it 10 years ago as I feel I have missed out on life. I still have a long way to go to achieve the end goal of the correct weight and best mobility and fitness that is possible but I am well on the way and am looking forward to buying some new clothes and a more
Coach Penny Concludes:
At Margaret’s half way review 6 weeks into the Recalibrate Wellbeing programme she had lost over 8kg and by week 12 she had lost a
massive 17kg! (2.7stone!) The impact this has had on her lifestyle means that she can now walk distances comfortably. She can walk down a flight of stairs with ease and can put her shoes and socks without a struggle – she’s now fit for her life. She has changed her diet and now only drinks alcohol on special occasions and hasnt’ had a ready meal since starting the programme. She has had so many positive comments from friends and colleagues that her confidence in herself has grown enormously.
I’m delighted Margaret plans to continue personal training with me as she is a joy to train!
